A Chesterfield company is on a recruitment drive after achieving 20 per cent year-on-year growth, and is planning an Open Day for potential employees to learn more.

TMAT researches, develops and manufactures innovative solutions to reduce noise and vibration in agricultural and construction vehicles and its customers include Case, New Holland Tractors, Komatsu and Volvo.  All of these companies incorporate TMAT’s acoustic systems into their industry-leading products, improving the working lives of millions of heavy equipment users worldwide.

TMAT has also been shortlisted for three major industry awards: the Derbyshire Times ‘Business Personality of the Year Award’, The Manufacturer ‘SME Manufacturer of the Year Award’, and the EEF  ‘Innovative Operating Practices Award’.

The company’s success is based on a major research and development investment programme and in-depth training for every member of the workforce.  From apprenticeships to MBAs, the company fully supports training and development to help every employee reach their full potential.  The majority of the company’s 120 workforce is from the local area.  In the current recruitment drive, TMAT is looking for: Quality Managers, Quality Engineers, Team Leaders, Operators and Key Account Managers as well as planning to increase its Apprenticeship scheme.

Managing Director Jason Lippitt says:  “In the last 12 months TMAT has developed more than 100 product innovations and we’ve backed that with a world-class customer service operation.  We can only achieve this level of success with the support of our employees and in turn, we work with them to develop their business and personal skills.”

Recently, TMAT has focused on manufacturing components from sustainable and renewable resources.  Everything supplied by the company is made to order with a next day guaranteed delivery service which has operated at close to 100 per cent over four consecutive months.

Backed by Advent Partners and a £1.6 million HSBC funding package, TMAT aims to drive turnover to more than £20 million by 2015.

Excitement is building at TMAT as we find ourselves shortlisted for two major industry awards and in the running for a third.

During November we’ll be attending The Manufacturer of the Year Awards Ceremony in London where we’re shortlisted for the ‘SME Manufacturer of the Year’ category.  We’re up against some strong competition in this category and delighted to be in the final six companies.

Also this month, our MD Jason Lippitt will find out whether he has become the Derbyshire Times ‘Business Personality of the Year’.  Everyone at TMAT certainly thinks he’s a great business personality so we hope that the judges agree with us!

There’s also an Engineering Employers’ Federation event coming up where TMAT’s senior management team will find out whether we’re in the region’s shortlist for the EEF awards.

This year we’ve put huge investment into the company infrastructure, research and development and – most importantly – our employees, and in this difficult trading climate, we’ve grown by 20 per cent.  It’s great that our hard work and achievements are being recognised by others and everyone’s fingers are crossed that we’ll be returning with some shiny trophies!
